Black cherry is perhaps one of the most classic wood species used in furniture building for both its vibrant color and unique aging process. When freshly cut, the heartwood of black cherry is a light pinkish-brown color. However, over time and exposure to light the wood darkens to a rich reddish hue. The sapwood of black cherry is cream colored and does not darken over time.
