Colorado Wood & Metal is a wood shop and sawmill specializing entirely in custom designed and built wood projects made from antique barn wood and live edge slabs. We have our own kiln, sawmill, and a full shop that can handle almost any milling and fabrication requirements. Why we build

At Colorado Wood & Metal we establish a personal relationship with our customers through a mutual passion for woodworking. While there is no doubt we love to make cool stuff out of wood, none of it would be possible without our customers. Our hope is that we can assist customers in building their idea as well as provide a piece that your family can create memories around.

Meet The Crew

Scott Meininger, Owner, Beer purchaser

scott.jpg

Known locally as El Scotto Guapo, Scott graduated with a degree in Finance from James Madison University and immediately moved to Vail to work in a ski shop and ski his tail off. While living in Vail, Scott became obsessed with whitewater paddling, and eventually went to school to study water engineering at Oregon State, where he met his wife. They decided to move to the Front Range after graduation to pursue careers in the water industries. Commuting in traffic and sitting in a cubicle didn't go over well with Scott, so he quit his job and began apprenticing at Singing Saw Woodworks to learn the craft of woodworking and the reclaimed wood business. In April 2018, Scott purchased Singing Saw and changed the company to Colorado Wood & Metal. He and his wife live in Golden with their two daughters Mazzy and Annika. Scott has been employee of the month every month since he bought the company.

Tyler Roberts, Shop Manager, wood Whisperer

Tyler has over 15 years of woodworking experience as well as a degree in rough construction and cabinet making. Tyler draws on his experience in carpentry, construction, cabinetry, and woodworking to provide a full service experience. In his free time you can find Tyler at the shop working on his own projects because he can't get enough of this place. If you would like your piece to get some extra love and attention, bring him a case of warm PBR. Tyler has never been employee of the month.

Sean Chapelle, Problem solver, wood specialist

No relation to Dave... Sean gained experience and an appreciation for woodworking while helping his father completely renovate a century-old home. He and Scott are connected  through paddling whitewater back east. When Sean moved to Colorado, Scott offered him a job and he has been here for the last two years. When Sean is not in the shop you can find him at Loveland doing ski patrol or paddling the plethora of whitewater in Colorado with his wife Sara. Sean is also a certified EMT and is likely the reason we've never had any fatalities at the shop.

Katie Dunning, Wood flattener in training

Katie grew up here in Colorado. After college she spent a couple years in the corporate world, decided it wasn't for her, grabbed her backpack and hit the road. She is currently learning many new important life skills here at the shop. In her free time you can find her at Red Rocks, hiking, snowboarding, or traveling to some far away place.

what's the buzz?

"This place rocks! So much variety. We received assistance from both Tyler and Tom. Both were outstandingly helpful and knowledgeable. Things ended up being a little more expensive that we thought, but their stuff is so cool, and their workmanship is excellent."

More Reviews

There are few places I've ever taken the time to write a review, Colorado Wood & Metal has won me over. They are the only shop I will go to when I need wood work done. Their customer service is literally second to none, they love what they do and it shows in the quality of their work and material.
